Social media is a very public platform. But because of its wide use, many people don’t realize that anything posted on Facebook, Instagram, or other social media sites can potentially put them in great harm. That’s why it’s important for users to become more aware and more careful of what they post online.
Instead of a list of what to do on social media, perhaps a more fitting piece of advice is what people should not do. Kanye West, a famous celebrity, and his recent actions show exactly what you should avoid when posting and interacting on social media sites.
One of Kanye’s most controversial songs is entitled “The Blame Game,” where there are lines that go “Who taught you how to do this and do that? Who taught you how to wear those Jimmy Choos?” and “Man, Yeezy taught you well. Yeezy taught you well.”
Yeezy, a.k.a Kanye West, in fact, is not teaching well. His recent actions on social media, including lobbying threads at his former wife, Kim Kardashian, and her new partner Pete Davidson, among other personalities, can potentially become grounds for a harassment charge, as well as a number of other crimes.
From a family law point of view, Kim Kardashian could request the court to suspend or supervise Kanye’s parenting time with his children, if she wanted to. And his recent actions on social media will more than convince the court that the petition is merited.
On the other hand, Kanye can also be charged with criminal offenses using his statements about hurting and killing people as evidence against him. He’s making it easy for the authorities to charge him if they wanted to.
Don’t Imitate Kanye West
Kanye West is a big name in the Hollywood industry and has gained enough latitude for people to want to be like him. Unfortunately, however, his actions do not make him a good role model. Social media is a very public space, and one should not use the platform to give threats and talk about hurting people.
Remember that the authorities are watching and whatever is posted on social media could potentially start a whole course of criminal and civil charges. “Yeezy” is not teaching well at all and his actions should never be imitated.
